In SiFi, managing roles ensures that every team member has the right access for their responsibilities. Sometimes, you may need to remove a specific role (such as Transfer Initiator, Accountant, or HR Manager) or change someone’s role (for example, from Finance Manager to HR Manager).
This article explains when and how to make these changes safely and correctly.
You may need to adjust roles when:
A user’s responsibilities have changed.
The person no longer requires elevated access.
Someone was accidentally given an incorrect role.
You want to maintain accurate approval chains and permissions.
Keeping roles up to date helps prevent operational errors and ensures compliance with company policies.
Only specific roles have permission to add, remove, or change user roles:
Role | Can Modify Roles? |
Admin | Yes |
Finance manager | Yes |
HR Manager | Yes |
Log in to your SiFi account (Web or Mobile App).
Go to the Users section from the sidebar.
Select the user profile whose role you want to modify.
Click on More Actions (⋮) or Manage Roles.
Choose Remove Role.
A drawer or modal will appear showing all roles assigned to the user.
The Employee role will be visible but disabled — it cannot be removed.
Other roles (e.g., Transfer Initiator, Accountant, HR Manager, Finance Manager) will have checkboxes beside them.
Select the role(s) you wish to remove.
Click Confirm.
You’ll see a confirmation message:
“Removing this role will immediately revoke all permissions associated with it.
The user will no longer be able to access features tied to this role.
Approvals or workflows the user is part of will not be automatically reassigned.”
Click Confirm to proceed.
Once confirmed, the selected role(s) will be removed immediately.
If you’re changing roles (rather than removing only), follow these steps:
Open the user profile.
Click Change Role.
Select the new role (e.g., HR Manager).
Confirm the change.
The previous role (e.g., Finance Manager) will be automatically removed and replaced by the new one.
Employee Role Cannot Be Removed:
Every user must have this role for basic system access.
To fully remove a user from SiFi, use the Remove User from System option.
No Automatic Reassignments:
If the user is part of approval workflows, these will not automatically reassign.
Review your approval policies after making any changes.
